![]() Although this two week Festive period was a challenge for us, and as you can see, other guests provided similar reviews, I do not want to discredit the team of incredibly hard working associates and managers who put in endless hours of dedication to help in all of our departments at the hotel during this busy time. As a Montage Hotel & Resort, we strive to provide the utmost guest experience to each and every guest that we welcome through our doors, and it is a displeasure to know we failed on your account. I am deeply apologetic to hear that our levels of guest service did not meet your expectations during your recent visit. But Montage Deer Valley on the Travelers Choice list? Not for me.ĭear MinusThirty, On behalf of my team here at Montage Deer Valley, I would like to thank you for taking the time to share this open and direct feedback of your recent stay. That being said, there are at least three better hotels in Deer Valley: Stein Eriksen, St. In my view, Deer Valley is one of the very best places in the world for a ski vacation, and deserves better. Having stayed at both I concur: absolutely no comparison. Other reviewers have compared the Montage with Little Nell in Aspen. And I think that’s what bothers me most of all: the total inability to deliver on the promise of a luxury stay. Not a vacation we will remember with great pleasure, to be honest. Things started to improve towards the end of our stay as the crowds drifted away, but by then the damage was done. But at least they recognized the fact and came to apologize. Compass Sports were equally challenged at busy times. The staff were trying hard – almost all of whom seemed to be young and enthusiastic yet inexperienced and undirected. Elsewhere, housekeeping was sloppy, cleanliness was average at best (and food remnants all around the pool areas? really?). In short, the hotel was totally under-equipped to deal with the number of guests. Similarly, using the facility’s “complimentary transportation service” was equally trying, generally involving at least 30 minute wait, and on one occasion we were told that “almost all our guests are taking taxis tonight because our driver's got lost”. I have been fortunate enough to stay in many hotels around the world, and never have I been confronted with a two-hour wait for dinner in the hotel’s (non-reserveable) restaurants. This being the case, you would assume that the hotel would prioritize being able to feed and transport its guests. One of the attractions of the Montage is that it is stunningly located in a relatively remote part of the resort. Mesmerizingly expensive, yet scratch away the veneer (beautifully decorated trees along the entrance road, adorable dogs in the lobby), and you are left with a facility that completely failed to deliver a luxury experience. Other recent reviewers have already stated it eloquently already: it seems as though the holiday season was a bust for the Montage. They make their own marshmallows and they are a delicious fun thing to do with kids! I will definitely plan another trip again in the summer! My favorite thing is the s'mores every night. The scenery is so beautiful, and we were lucky enough to see a mama moose and her baby walking on the lawn. And they even supplied baby shampoo, wash and lotion! My kids loved the cookies that were delivered to the room and swimming in the pool! I enjoyed the spa! It was so relaxing and I was treated like royalty! I would highly recommend getting any spa service while staying there, or at least taking advantage of the spa facilities, like the steam room, sauna or whirlpool. When we got to our room there was a crib set up for my 5 week old baby, and a cute pink diaper pail. They held onto those stuffed animals the whole trip. The Montage is the so kid friendly! When we checked in, they were very attentive to my 6 and 2 yr old, and let them pick out a stuffed animal. We stayed at the montage deer valley in July with the kids, after staying there for a work retreat, I thought it would be nice to take the family up for a getaway.
